We noticed something interesting -

Jasper City sought to establish a comprehensive Emergency Alert System (EAS) to improve resident safety through timely notifications about emergencies and disruptions. Our team at Indiana University researched existing alert systems, user needs, and vendor options to recommend an optimal solution tailored for Jasper City.

Based on rigorous evaluation, we shortlisted five vendors meeting Jasper City’s criteria, emphasizing reliability, ease of use, and customization. The next steps involve presenting detailed proposals and survey insights to the city council for informed vendor selection, alongside cybersecurity evaluations and IPAWS certification considerations.

Impact:

Implementing a tailored, multi-channel Emergency Alert System will enhance Jasper City’s ability to protect its residents through faster, clearer, and more reliable communication during emergencies and routine disruptions.

Research

We conducted primary research through a survey of 94 residents, revealing that over 69% found the current system inefficient or were uncertain about its effectiveness. Residents expressed concerns about siren audibility, missed alerts, and lack of detailed guidance during emergencies. Secondary research included market analysis of 26 verified vendors and a competitive review of top systems like Onsolve’s Redcode, Everbridge, and RAVE.
